Hence the need to establish reliable metrics for diagnostic purposes and identification of best practice. This paper introduces a supply chain "health check" procedure successfully applied in the automotive sector and presents the results for the analysis of 20 trans-European value streams. The health check procedure is activated via a Quick Scan Framework, is based on a Route Map for performance improvement, and utilises the Uncertainty Circle concept as a means of assessing priorities for change. Our results show that only 10% of our sample automotive value chains can be rated as demonstrating "best practice".}, }
